4.1.1 Unpacking the Antenna
Move the boxed antenna to the antenna site. Open the top, then the sides of the shipping crate.
4.1.2 Tracking Antenna Setup
4.1.2.1 Antenna Orientation
The antenna is installed in position so that the cable and access hatch are oriented to the south (or stern). See
drawing 70909003, page 31.
4.1.2.2 Antenna Mounting
4.1.2.2.1 73" Radome
a. Attach a sling around the radome.
b. Loosen and remove the four 1/2-13 nuts holding the radome feet onto the shipping palette.
c. Raise the radome into position above the pedestal.
d. Orient the access hatch to the south (stern).
e. Lower the radome into position on the pedestal.
f. Bolt the 4 feet to the pedestal. Torque to 61-70 Nm (45-52 ft-lbs).
4.1.2.2.2 79" Radome
a. Attach four slings with shackles to the four lift rings around the radome.
b. Remove the two bolts holding the plywood square into the pallet.
c. Lift the radome enough to get access to the bottom of the radome.
d. Remove the bolts holding the plywood square to the bottom of the radome.
e. Using a 6mm allen head L-key, attach the twelve 12mm socket head set screws to the bottom of the
radome, using Locktite 271 on the screw as it is inserted into the radome.
f. Raise the radome into position above the pedestal.
g. Orient the access hatch to the south (stern).
h. Lower the radome into position on the pedestal.
i. Attach the twelve set screws to the pedestal using a washer, nut and Locktite 271. Use a 19mm
socket. Torque to 61-70 Nm (45-52 ft-lbs).
