C. Azimuth Drive Motor [12574501] for 6003L
(Figure 8-4, page 119)
1.
Turn off power to the antenna.
2.
Remove the motor’s cable from the servo amplifier.
3.
Cut the tie-wraps holding the motor cable to the pedestal harness (braided harness).
4.
Remove the four screws holding the azimuth motor to the bracket (item 2 of drawing 70909013,
page 49).
5.
Unhook the azimuth motor drive belt from the motor sprocket and remove the motor.
6.
Examine the drive sprocket of the old motor. Assemble the sprocket at the same height on the new
motor as on the old motor. Tighten the set-screws on the sprocket.
7.
Place the new motor on the mounting bracket and loosely tighten the four screws.
8.
Reattach the motor’s cable to the azimuth servo amplifier and tighten the hold-down screws.
9.
Replace the tie-wraps holding the motor cable to the pedestal harness.
10. Adjust the tension on the azimuth motor drive belt (loosen, adjust tension, and tighten the four screws
holding the motor to the bracket).
11. Adjust the tension on the Az Pot Drive Belt (see step 9 of section 8.4.33).
12. Turn on power to the antenna.
D. Azimuth Drive Motor [12574507] for 6003AL
(Figure 8-4, page 119)
1.
Turn off power to the antenna.
2.
Remove the motor’s cable from the bracket.
3.
Remove the four screws holding the azimuth motor to its bracket (item 32 of drawing 70909049,
page 47).
4.
Unhook the azimuth spool drive belt from the motor sprocket and remove the motor.
5.
Examine the drive sprocket of the old motor. Assemble the sprocket at the same height on the new
motor as on the old motor. Tighten the set-screws on the sprocket.
6.
Place the new motor on the mounting bracket and loosely tighten the four screws.
7.
Reattach the motor’s cable to the azimuth bracket and tighten the hold-down screws.
8.
Adjust the tension on the azimuth spool drive belt (loosen, adjust tension, and tighten the four screws
holding the motor to the bracket).
9.
Turn on power to the antenna. No manual calibration of the azimuth encoder is required. The azimuth
position is determined on initialization.
