8.4.3 Servo Amplifier [12574003] 6003L Only
Three servo amplifiers are used on an antenna — one for each axis motor (azimuth, elevation, cross-level). Two
types of servo amplifiers are used.
NOTE: The 6003AL model has the servo amplifiers integrated in the PCU enclosure.
Tools:
3mm (1/8") flat-blade screwdriver
#2 Phillips screwdriver
#2 short Phillips screwdriver
Part Location:
Azimuth servo: see drawing 70909004, page 27 and Figure 8-6, page 123.
Cross-level servo: see drawing 70909004, page 27, and Figure 8-6, page 123.
Elevation servo: see drawing 70909004, page 27, and Figure 8-3, page 118.
The servo is attached to the drive motor of that axis.
Procedure:
1. Turn off power to the antenna.
2. Remove the two cables attached to the servo amplifier.
3. Unscrew the machine screws holding the servo amplifier to the frame and remove the old amplifier.
4. Put the mounting screws on the new servo amplifier and attach it to the frame.
5. Reattach the two cables to the servo amplifier and tighten the hold-down screws.
6. Turn on power to the antenna.
Diagnostics After Completing Repair:
1. Perform the tests of section 5.1, page 83, and observe the correct operation of the antenna, particularly
in the axis where the servo amplifier was changed.
