7.1.3 No Data Received After Setup of Antenna
The following conditions can occur upon system setup and will result in complete loss of data reception:
a.
Short/open in the signal cable going to the inside equipment from the antenna:
1.
Detach both ends of RF cable and verify that there is infinite resistance between the case and center
pin of the cable.
2.
Verify that there is continuity between the center pins at each end of the cable.
b. Ground fault (signal noise): The earth ground of the receiver power cord must be attached to a true
earth ground. If the receiver is not grounded, data will intermittently be received and dropped.
Note that other components in the receive chain (receiver, power supplies, receiver RS232 control cables) may
also be at fault. Consult the reference manual associated with the additional components.

7.2.1 Test Environment
a.
Run all diagnostics only if a pass is not being tracked and sun alignment is not in progress.
Use
trackmon
or
trackeye
to determine if tracking is in progress.
b. The section number of the repair procedure is shown in { }. The diagnostics shown below should
be run by the TeraScan user
teradm
or
xtuser
, not the superuser. Repeat the test several times before
proceeding to repair. Cycle power on the antenna and computer, wait for initialization to complete,
and repeat the test before proceeding to repair.
c.
Always allow the antenna to complete initialization before running any test. This could take up to
three minutes.
d. All diagnostic tests shown in this section (under the repair procedure heading
Test on Computer
)
must be completed by pressing the
Return
or
Enter
key (<Return>).
e.
Use the actual telemetry chain number in place of chain in these examples.
f.
Before running any tests or changing the hardware, always:
1.
Examine all cables, connectors, drive belts, motors, drive sprockets or pulleys, wiring harnesses,
and rate sensors for wear; frayed or cut wires; cracked, split, or broken belts; loose parts; or damage.
2.
Test for overheating of motors or the PCU.
3.
If a connector is unplugged, check the pins for damage (bent, pushed into the housing) before
reinserting connector, especially the PCU connectors.
