A LOOSE DRAIN PLUG WILL ALLOW SEA WATER
TO ENTER THE BILGE AND COULD CAUSE THE
BOAT TO SINK. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CHECK
THE DRAIN PLUG FREQUENTLY TO INSURE IT IS
PROPERLY TIGHTENED.
Important:
Any oil spilled in the bilge must be thor-
oughly removed and properly disposed of
before operating the bilge pump. The dis-
charge of oil from the bilge is illegal and
subject to a fine.
THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT
PROHIBITS THE DISCHARGE OF OIL OR OILY
WASTE INTO OR UPON THE NAVIGABLE WATERS
OF THE UNITED STATES OR THE WATERS OF THE
CONTIGUOUS ZONE IF SUCH DISCHARGE CAUSES
A FILM OR SHEEN UPON, OR A DISCOLORATION
OF THE SURFACE OF THE WATER, OR CAUSES A
SLUDGE OR EMULSION BENEATH THE SURFACE
OF THE WATER. VIOLATORS ARE SUBJECT TO A
PENALTY OF $10,000.
CERTAIN BULKHEAD AREAS ARE SEALED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH U.S. COAST GUARD
REGULATIONS THAT WERE IN EFFECT AT THE DATE
OF MANUFACTURE OF THE BOAT. ANY
MODIFICATIONS TO THESE BULKHEADS SHOULD
BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE U.S. COAST GUARD
REGULATIONS.

Fishbox, Cooler and Storage
Compartment Drains
A large insulated fishbox is located in the front of the cockpit
on the Sportfish. The fishbox is drained overboard by gravity
to a thru-hull fitting in the hull, above the waterline. The
fishbox should be flushed out and cleaned after each use.
The cooler/storage compartments located in the bow of the
Dorado are drained to the bilge by gravity. The compart-
ments should be flushed out and cleaned after each use.
The storage compartments and cooler/fishboxes in the stern
are drained by gravity to a thru-hull fitting located in the hull
side above the waterline.
7.6
Water System Drains
The tackle station sink on the Abaco is drained by gravity to a
thru-hull fitting in the hull side. The stern livewell drains by
gravity to a thru-hull fitting located in the hull side above the
waterline. The overflow in the livewell drains into the over-
board drain.
7.7
Rope Locker Drains
The rope locker drains overboard thru a small drain hole in
bottom of the locker to a thru-hull fitting in the hull above the
waterline. It is important to inspect the drain frequently to
remove any accumulated debris.
7.8
Drainage System Maintenance
It is essential that the following items be done periodically to
maintain proper drainage of your boat:
•
Clean the cockpit drain rails with a hose to remove debris
that can block water drainage.
•
Clean the T-top and leaning post leg drain holes. This is
especially important just before winter lay-up.
•
Clean the bilge pump strainer of debris and check the
bilge for foreign material that can cause the automatic
switch to malfunction.
