Chapter 5:
FRESH WATER SYSTEM
5.1
General
The fresh water system consists of a potable water tank, dis-
tribution lines and a distribution pump. The pump is equipped
with an automatic pressure switch and is located behind a
panel in the head compartment on the Sportfish, below the
tackle station on the Abaco and behind the helm on the Dorado.
The tank is filled through a labeled deck plate located in the
head compartment on the Sportfish, below the windshield in
the walkway on the Dorado and near the helm seat on the
Abaco.
The water system pressure pump is used to supply fresh or
raw water to the tackle station sink or the washdown. A se-
lector valve located near the helm seat on the Abaco, below
the helm on the Dorado and on the rear wall of the head com-
partment on the Sportfish, is used to select fresh or raw water.
Water Fill
A “keyless” fill deck plate is marked “WATER.” The water
fill is opened by pressing down on the cap and turning it counter
clockwise 1/4 turn. The center of the cap will pop up provid-
ing a hand grip. Continue turning the cap counter clockwise
until it can be removed. After filling, install the fuel cap and
tighten. Once the cap is tight, simultaneously press down and
turn the center of the cap clockwise to lock it in the closed
position.
DO NOT FILL SYSTEM WITH ANYTHING OTHER
THAN WATER. SHOULD THE SYSTEM BECOME
CONTAMINATED WITH FUEL OR OTHER TOXIC
FLUIDS, COMPONENT REPLACEMENT MAY BE
NECESSARY.
DO NOT CONFUSE FUEL FILL DECK PLATES WITH
THE WATER OR WASTE FILL DECK PLATES. THESE
PLATES ARE ALSO LABELED ACCORDINGLY. IF
GASOLINE OR DIESEL FUEL IS ACCIDENTALLY
PUMPED INTO THE WATER OR WASTE TANK, DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO PUMP IT OUT YOURSELF. WATER
AND WASTE PUMPS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO PUMP
FUEL AND A FIRE OR EXPLOSION COULD RESULT.
CONTACT YOUR DEALER OR THE SCOUT
CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR
ASSISTANCE IN HAVING THE FUEL
PROFESSIONALLY REMOVED.
Fresh and Raw Water Pressure Pump
Selector Valve
5.2
Fresh Water System Operation
Fill the water supply tank slowly through the labeled deck
plate. After filling the water tank, partially open the sink
faucet. The Water Pressure switch in the helm switch panel
should be on and the selector valve should be set to fresh
water. Allow the pump to run until all of the air is purged
from the system and a steady stream of water is flowing from
faucet. Turn off the faucet. As the pressure builds the pump
will automatically shut off.
