Quick Start Guide 1321.3066.02 ─ 05
If you have entered an invalid IP address or subnet mask, the message "out of
range" is displayed in the status line. The "Edit" dialog box remains open, and
you can start again. If the settings are correct, the configuration is saved, and
you are prompted to restart the instrument.
7. Confirm the displayed message ("Yes" button) to restart the instrument.
Using a DNS server to determine the IP address
In a LAN that uses a DNS server (Domain Name System server), each PC or
instrument connected in the LAN can be accessed via an unambiguous computer
name instead of the IP address. The DNS server translates the host name to the
IP address. This is especially useful when a DHCP server is used, as a new IP
address may be assigned each time the instrument is restarted.
Each instrument is delivered with an assigned computer name, but this name can
be changed.
1. Obtain the name of your DNS domain and the IP addresses of the DNS and
WINS servers on your network.
2. Press the "Windows" key on the external keyboard or the CTRL + ESC key
combination on your keyboard to access the operating system.
3. Select "Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing
Center".
4. Select "Local Area Connection".
