Within the user interface for the Maxwell
®
RSC Instrument it is possible to modify the following options.
Settings can be changed later by following these instructions again.
Bar Code Options/Sample Entry
The method run by the Maxwell
®
RSC Instrument is determined by the Maxwell
®
RSC Kit being used. Each
kit for the Maxwell
®
RSC corresponds to a method on the instrument. Methods can be chosen by kit name
or by the Promega part number. Alternatively, you can manually enter the bar code information or use an
optional bar code reader to scan the 2D barcode on the label of a Maxwell
®
RSC kit box. Scanning or
manually entering the bar code information will direct the Instrument which method to run and will also
provide the lot number and expiration date for the kit for reporting purposes. It is also possible to configure
the Maxwell
®
RSC software for entry of cartridge ID, elution tube ID, and two additional administrator-
defined sample identification fields; these values can be entered using the on-screen keyboard or the
optional bar code reader. Administrators can also determine whether the sample identification fields or bar
codes for any of these additional fields should match the sample ID bar code for a given cartridge position.
To configure the sample identification or bar code entry options for the software an administrator will need
to perform the following steps:
1. From the Home screen of the Maxwell
®
RSC User Interface (Figure 21) touch the
Settings
button.
2. On the Settings screen select the
Administrator
button. Only operators who are identified as
PromegaAdministrators on the Tablet PC (Section 4.E) will have administrator access rights on the
Settings screen (Figure 22) and the
Administrator
button. By touching the
Administrator
button
the administrator will gain access to functions that determine the performance characteristics of the
Maxwell
®
RSC User Interface and Instrument.
3. From the Maxwell
®
RSC Administrator page (Figure 23) touch the
Sample Entry
button.
