7. For integrated quantitation using the Quantus™ Fluorometer, unpack the Quantus

Fluorometer as
described in the instructions in the

Fluorometer Operating Manual
#TM396, and then
connect the USB cable to a USB port on the bottom left of the Maxwell
®
RSC Instrument (Figure 11).

8. Optional:
If a bar code reader was purchased, connect it to the second USB port on the bottom left of
the Maxwell
®
RSC Instrument.

4.C. Switching On the Maxwell
®
RSC Instrument
Once all the foam pieces have been removed and the Tablet PC set up, you can connect the instrument to a
power outlet. The power switch is located next to the power cable connection on the back of the instrument.
Ensure that the On/Off switch is in the Off position. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet. See Section 1.E for
power requirements. We recommend connecting the Maxwell
®
RSC Instrument to an uninterruptible power
supply. Switch the instrument “On” using the On/Off switch. Plug the Tablet PC Power Cord into a wall outlet.
Press the Tablet PC power switch located on the top of the Tablet PC to turn the Tablet PC “ON”. Start
the Maxwell
®
RSC Application Software. Every time the instrument is powered on, it will perform a self-
diagnostic test. The deck, plunger bar and magnetic rod assembly are moved to check operation.
