Installing the Chassis in a PRIMECENTER Rack
Each side of the chassis is secured to the rack with four of the
screws provided. Before inserting the chassis on the side rails cage
nuts have to be inserted in the appropriate mounting holes.
1.
Place four cage nuts for fastening the chassis in the
corresponding holes of each front support upright as shown in
Figure 2.3.
2.
Remove any filler blades from the chassis. The chassis must be
empty of all blades and filler blades before you install it in the
rack.
3.
Insert the chassis on the side rails.
Caution:
At least two people are needed to position the server in the
rack. Do not lift the chassis using the door.
4.
Push the chassis back into the rack until the four mounting holes
on each side of the chassis align with the mounting holes in the
side rails.
5.
Secure each side of the chassis to the rack with four 10-32 x 3/8
Phillips screws.
Caution:
The weight of the chassis must be fully supported by the
combination of side rails and front mounting flanges, not by the
mounting screws alone.
6.
Snap on the two plastic trim strips over the mounting flanges on
the sides of the chassis.
7.
Route the cables with the inserted server as described in the
Technical Manual of the corresponding Rack.
To remove the server, follow the same procedure in the reverse
order.
