Connecting the BladeFrame BF200 to a SAN
This section describes generic steps for connecting your
BladeFrame BF200 to a Storage Area Network (SAN).
To properly configure the BladeFrame BF200 for your SAN
device, follow the guidelines in
PRIMERGY BladeFrame SAN
Integration Guide
, available on the online bookshelf.
PRIMERGY
BladeFrame SAN Integration Guide
has information on multipath
and failover configurations.
The BladeFrame BF200 supports the following SAN environments:
•
Arbitrated loop, where the storage devices are connected in a
logical loop. This requires little configuration.
•
Switched fabric, where the storage devices communicate
through one or more switches. For switched fabric
environments, persistent binding must be enabled.
To support SAN Fibre Channel connections, the BladeFrame
BF200 is equipped with four QLogic SANBlade 2342 Host Bus
Adapters (HBAs), two HBAs per cBlade. The HBAs are shipped
with preconfigured settings for arbitrated loop.
The cBlade can support a Fibre Channel infrastructure of 2Gb.
However, your performance is limited to the size of your
infrastructure (for example, the performance of a 1Gb infrastructure
is not as good as that of a 2Gb infrastructure).
