In Raman effect, a kind of scattered light appears on the side of wavelength slightly longer
than excitation wavelength.

Raman spectrum
Scattered light spectrum that occurs due to Raman effect.

Used for analog output to a recorder.

Scan
Means a sequential shifting operation of monochromator wavelength for spectral
measurement.

Scattered light
Includes Raman scattered light, 2nd-order light, 3rd-order light, etc. In fluorescence
analysis, particular attention should be paid to scattered light.

2nd-order light
A spectral peak (a kind of scattered light) which appears at a wavelength of 2 times the
level of excitation intensity. In a common arrangement, a filter is used to remove or cut off
the 2nd-order scattered light.

Stokes law
This law states that the wavelength of a fluorescent emission is always longer than the
excitation wavelength.

3rd-order light
A spectral peak (a kind of scattered light) which appears at a wavelength of 3 times the
level of excitation intensity. In a common arrangement, a filter is used to remove or cut off
the 3rd-order scattered light.
