8 • Basic system management
Introduction
This chapter describes parameters that report basic system information to the operator or administrator, and
their configuration. The following are basic IPLink software parameters that must be established when setting
up a new system:

Defining the system's hostname
•
Setting the location of the system
•
Providing reference contact information
•
Setting the clock
Additionally, the following tasks are described in this chapter:

Checking the CRC of configuration files
•
Displaying the currently running IPLink software commands
•
Moving IPLink software commands into the foreground

Setting the system banner
