insert it into a lock. Punch the hole within one-half inch
of the top right corner of the card.
NOTE: It is not recommended to punch a hole in an
RFID card used with the HT22P system.
Question: When should I replace my cards?
When the cards become scratched, or the plastic can be
seen through the magnetic stripe, they should be
replaced. It is important to note that many times, the
leading edge of the magnetic stripe will wear before the
rest of the stripe. If you have a question, compare the
card to a new card. If the stripe has receded from the
edge, replace it.
As RFID cards do not require contact with the lock,
they should be replaced when they become non-
functional.
Encoders
The HT22 encoders require very little maintenance. If
you start to get a lot of encoding errors, it may be
necessary to clean the encoding slot. In this case, use a
can of compressed air (one that is made for use on
computers and electronic equipment). Blow the air
through the card slot of the encoder. If the problem
persists, use a cleaning card which can be purchased
from Onity. Simply insert and remove the card several
times.
Using the Spare Card System
The Spare Card system is used as an emergency back-
up to maintain the hotel’s ability to rent rooms in the
event of an extended power outage or complete system
failure. It is extremely important to keep a current
Programming Card with the Spare Cards at all times.
These cards should be located in a secure area where
they are easily accessible to the front desk staff in the
event of an emergency. Since the locks are battery
