Preventative Maintenance
Locks
The HT24 lock is designed to give you years of trouble-
free service. However, it is important that certain
preventative maintenance procedures be performed
periodically to extend the life of the lock. These
procedures are defined in the following paragraphs.
Cleaning the Locks
One of the most important and easiest procedures to
ensure long-lasting use of your locks is to clean them
periodically. Dirt and grime will build up over time on
the magnetic stripe read head if not cleaned. Onity sells
Cleaning Cards, which are felt cards with a cleaning
solution applied to them. To use them, simply insert
and remove the card several times in each lock. This
should be done approximately once every month for
exterior corridor properties and once every quarter for
interior corridor properties. In extreme conditions and
at ocean-front properties, the frequency cleaning should
be increased.
