12: DSN (Delivery Status Notification)
!
MDN vs. DSN
MDN = Message Disposition Notification
DSN = Delivery Status Notification
MDN: you receive a confirmation that your message
was received by the destination mail server.
DSN: you receive a confirmation that your message was
opened by the person you sent it to (the recipient).
All systems involved in the communication must support
MDN and DSN.
When a mail server with DSN receives a message, it
sends a delivery confirmation to the sender of the
message.
Change this setting to OFF, if you are sending a message
to a mail server that does not support DSN.
If you do not change this setting to OFF, the server may
not be able to handle the message correctly and a
communication error may occur.
Some servers can send mail to servers without DSN.
In this case, no delivery notification will be sent.
The default setting is OFF.
!
User Function 86, TEXT PRINT must be ON for your
machine to receive and print delivery notifications.
!
When User Function 98, Network Settings, DSN is ON,
your machine receives confirmations (DSN) from the
mail server of anyone sent a message by your machine.
