01 OMNI MODE
As we mentioned before, OMNI MODE can be turned ON or OFF
from this parameter.
When OMN I is ON, the MATRIX-GR will receive MIDI
Notes
and
Controllers
from the Master instrument on all 1 G Channels plus
special M I DI data such as TUNE, ACTIVE SENSE and SYSTEM
EXCLUSIVE messages. As a rule of thumb, keep in mind that
all
MIDI information except Tune, Active Sense and System Exclusive
data are sent on one of the M IDI 1 through 1 G Channels.
When OMNI is OFF, the MATRIX-GR will receive M I DI
Notes
and
Controllers
on the BASIC CHANNEL only. The MATRIX-GR will
ignore MIDI information coming from any other channel. Please
note that this is true only
if
the MATRIX-GR is in its normal G-Voice
polyphonic playing mode. When the MATRIX-GR is in SPLIT, Ml DI
operates just a little differently and we'll cover that later in the
SPLIT EDIT Page.
02 CONTROLLERS
Although MATRIX-GR is always a Slave, this parameter permits you
to turn the MIDI Controllers ON or OFF as needed.
When turned ON, the MATRIX-GR will respond to LEVER1 ,
LEVER2, PEDAL 1 , PEDAL2 and PRESSURE from the Master
instrument. If M I DI Parameter
"05
LOCAL CONTROL" is also
turned ON, the MATRIX-GR's own Pedals (pedals plugged into the
Pedal 1 and Pedal 2 jacks on its back panel) will operate
simultaneously with Ml DI
Controllers.
When turned OFF, the MATRIX-GR will ignore all controller
information except for M I DI
Notes
(NOTES, VELOCITYand
RELEASE VELOCITY).
03 PATCH CHANGES
This parameter is treated separately from other Controllers
because there may be many times when you will not want PATCH
CHANGES to be transmitted or received.
PATCH CHANGES occur when a new patch is selected on the
Master controller. Any instru ment in the system set to receive
PATCH CHANGES will respond by going to the new patch number
when this command is sent. This is only an index number for the
patch; it has nothing to do with the actual sou nd of the patch itself.
When turned ON, the MATRIX-GR will transmit and receive MIDI
nformation that will cause instruments in the system to change to
another Patch Number. If your Master controller has a Split
Keyboard capability and it is designed to send Split Program
Changes via MIDI, the MATRIX-GR will also respond to these
commands when PATCH CHANGES is enabled.
