Chapter 5 - Determining Position Coordinates
Press the
menu key to return to the
GPS POSITION
screen.
Using DGPS
When operating the 951XD or 952XD with DGPS in use, you’ll
usually see position measurements accurate to about one to
three meters, speed measurements accurate to about 0.1 knot,
and COG measurements accurate to about 0.5 degree. DGPS
corrections remove the errors caused by atmospheric varia-
tions.
NOTE:
When you’re using DGPS as your navigation source, your position coordi-
nates, as calculated by the unit, may actually exceed the accuracy of
some charts.
When the DGPS indicator is displayed, it means the unit is
using this higher level of accuracy. On the
GPS POSITION
,
STEERING
, and
3D STEER
screens, the DGPS indicator is a large
letter
“D”
in the upper right corner. On the
CHART
screen, the
DGPS indicator is the word
DGPS.
When you require this addi-
tional accuracy, be sure to check often to see that these indica-
tors are present.
