Going to the cursor
location
Press the
menu key to begin navigating to
the point designated by the cursor, as described in detail in
Section 8, ”Understanding Waypoint/Route Navigation,” start-
ing on page 115. (If the cursor had been placed on a nav aid or
waypoint, this menu key would read
or
.)
As in
VESSEL
mode, you can press the
menu
key to change the kinds of information shown on the chart
(for details, see ”Setting up the chart screen” starting on page
52).
Using distance and bearing mode
The unit lets you quickly and easily determine the distance
and bearing between any two points on the
CHART
screen
(you can also use this function to create new waypoints
defined by their distance and bearing from another point):
1. Press the
key to display the
WAYPTS
AND ROUTES
screen.
2. Press the
menu key. The unit dis-
plays your present position at the center of the
CHART
screen, with the cursor situated directly over it.
3. Move the cursor to the first location and press the
menu key. A new
“X,”
or starting point, is dis-
played at that location. Distance and bearing information
from the
“X”
point to the cursor’s position is now dis-
played in the
INFO BAR
. You can move the cursor to vari-
ous points on the
CHART
screen and see the distance and
bearing from the
X
point as it moves.
