ture lets you choose how many
SAVED
waypoints are retained
before they’re automatically erased.
Man overboard
feature
Press and hold the
key for at least five sec-
onds—until you see the “Man Overboard” window—to enter
“Man Overboard” (MOB) mode. The unit saves your position
and displays it on the
CHART
screen as a waypoint with a dot
symbol and the name –
MOB–
. The zoom level is automatically
set to the maximum detail of 1/8 nm range. The
CHART
screen
locks on the display screen, showing your position and the
MOB location. The MOB location has immediately become
your current waypoint, with new bearing and distance infor-
mation displayed on the right-hand side of the screen.
To leave MOB mode and return to normal navigation, press
the
key for five seconds until the unit displays the
BACK TO NORMAL — MOB TURNED OFF
message. Note that
the waypoint named –
MOB–
is stored in addition to the saved
waypoint named, for example, –
S002–.
Before you can erase
the waypoint –
MOB–,
you must stop navigating to it by
re-pressing the
key for another five seconds to exit
MOB mode.
Using the function keys
The five function keys located below the display screen con-
trol what the unit is doing. You can press any function key at
any time to display the information you need to see.
CAUTION!
INVOKING MOB WHILE USING AN AUTOPILOT
Some autopilots attempt to steer your boat according to
any
bearing changes output by the 951/952, regardless of the
severity of the change. Others automatically disengage when a
severe or abrupt turn is required. Please refer to your autopilot
manual for information regarding this procedure.
