• Motor self-excitation.
The phenomenon is destructive and dangerous,
it causes damage to the machine and it can occur if a LC-filter is
connected to the output of the drive and is not properly sized.
When using an LC filter before connecting the drive to the motor, check
that the current drawn by the capacitor bank of the LC filter to the drive
output (detect the capacitance value from the functional diagram of the
panel) is less than 90 % of the no-load current of the motor.
It is necessary to check this condition to avoid the possibility of
self-excitation of the motor, with consequent serious damage to both
the machine and the operator.
• Insulation of the motor.
Table 3.6.1 shows how to select the motor
insulation system and, when necessary, the dv/dt filters and insulated
bearings on the opposite side of the coupling.
Regarding the insulation it is necessary to consult the motor manufacturer.
If the motor fails to comply with the requirements of the table or improper
installation may reduce the life time of the motor or damage the bearings.
