Drives
The expansion bay for connecting drives is located on the front and back. Drives can be purchased mounted on
a dedicated tray. The device should be installed as mounted on the tray.
Important Use hard disk drives specified by NEC. Installing a third-party hard disk
drive might cause a failure of the server as well as the hard disk drive.
SAS, SATA, PCIe SSD, and M.2 drives (depending on configuration) are supported.
Follow these guidelines when adding drives to the server.
All the device numbers are automatically set by the system.
If you are using only one hard disk drive, please install it in the bay with the smallest lowest device number.
PCIe SSD is a PCIe bus device.
Devices mounted on the PCIe bus, cannot be removed without the device and
the bus completing/stopping the signal/traffic flow.
Do not remove the PCIe SSD from the drive bay while the LED is flashing. To indicate that the SSD is still in use, the
non-removable LED button flashes. Removing the PCIe SSD before the device completes/stops the signal/traffic flow
causes PCIe SSD data loss.
When drives that are grouped together into the same drive array, for the most efficient use of storage
space, set each drive at the same capacity.
Unique device numbers have been assigned to each slot.
