
Draining engine oil from mid
sump oil pan
Note:
The engine oil can be drained on the right of
left side (→ Page 22)
1.
Provide a suitable vessel to collect the oil.
2.
Remove drain plug (1) and drain oil.
3.
Unscrew the drain plug (2) as well if it is ac-
cessible and drain off the remaining oil.
4.
Check O-ring on drain plug for signs of dam-
age. Replace with a new O-ring if damaged.
5.
Tighten drain plug (1) to specified torque using a torque wrench.

If applicable, tighten drain plug (2) to specified torque using a torque wrench.

7.
Replace engine oil filter (→ Page 137).
Fill with new engine oil
Note:
Only use an engine oil which has been ap-
proved for the engine concerned and which
meets the specified SAE grade (→ Fluids and
Lubricants Specifications).
1.
Open cap (1) on cylinder head cover.
Note:
Never fill with too much oil. Excessive oil may
damage the engine.
2.
Fill with engine oil, oil filling capacity (→ Tech-
nical Data).
3.
Close cap (1) on cylinder head cover.
Note:
The engine oil level must be checked at regu-
lar intervals.
4.
Check engine oil level (→ Page 132).
5.
Drain or extract any superfluous oil.
