1. Use the dhcp throttle on command, in Cable Interface Configuration mode, to
enable DHCP Rate Limiting for all CM or CPEs, as follows:

# dhcp throttle { cm | cpe } on
where:
cm enables DHCP rate limiting for all CMs.
cpe enables DHCP rate limiting for all CPEs.
2. Use the dhcp throttle window command, in Cable Interface Configuration
mode, to configure the rate of each DHCP Request/Discover packet per number
of seconds for a CM or CPE, as follows:

where:
cm configures a DHCP packet rate limit per number of seconds for all CMs.
cpe configure a DHCP packet rate limit per number of seconds for all CPEs.

is the number of seconds for each DHCP Request/Discover packet.
For example, the following command line entry would set the DHCP packet rate
limit for each cable modem to one DHCP packet for every two seconds:

3. Use the no dhcp throttle window cm and no dhcp throttle window cpe
commands, in Cable Interface Configuration mode, to return the DHCP packet
rate limit to the default value of one DHCP Request/Discover packet for every 5
seconds.

where:
cm restores the default DHCP rate limiting for all CMs.
cpe restores the default DHCP rate limiting for all CPEs.
4. Use the no dhcp throttle cm on and no dhcp throttle cpe on commands, in
Cable Interface Configuration mode, to disable DHCP Rate Limiting for all CMs
or CPEs, as follows:
