Similarly, the output from the receive section of the B-radio MUX is applied to the input
of the receive section of the B-radio SYNDES. The SYNDES-MUX switch level
determines whether the output from the receive section of the A-radio SYNDES or B-
radio SYNDES is sent to the terminal block. A module failure involving the receiver
section of the MUX, SYNDES, or both causes this level of switching.
Receiver SCU Switch
The third receiver switch is the SCU switch. This switch is only valid only when
protected SCUs are used. This switch allows switching of the protected SCUs without
impacting the primary traffic on the radio. In the event of a failure in the A radio SCU, B
radio SCU is placed online.
Receive WTU Switch
The fourth receiver switch is the WTU switch. This switch level is valid only when
protected WTUs are equipped. This level is provided to allow switching of the protected
WTUs without impacting the primary traffic on the radio.
In the event of a failure in the A radio WTU, the B radio WTU is placed on line.
Diversity Switching
The space diversity receive configuration uses a second antenna on the redundant receive
path. The radio uses separate receive paths from the antenna through the DEMOD. An
errorless switch in the MUX monitors received signal quality. The ACU uses the errorless
switch response to set the optimal receive path. SYNDES-MUX switch responds the
same as the hot-standby switch.
