CM8 Switch Settings
CM8 RF frequencies are from 7780 to 8500 MHz, and LO frequencies are from 7850 to
8570 MHz. To determine the receiver local oscillator (RXLO) frequency, using an HP
5347A frequency counter or equivalent, measure both the receiver and transmitter RF
frequencies, and then adjust RXLO as follows: If the receiver frequency (RXRF) is less
than the transmitter frequency (TXRF), set the RXLO frequency to a value 70-MHz less
than the measured RXRF; if the RXRF is greater than the TXRF, set the RXLO
frequency to a value 70-MHz greater than the RXRF as listed in Table E-E.
Figure E-2 shows the RXLO synthesizer FREQUENCY SET switch setting arrangement
for the CM8. Use Figure E-2 with the information in Tables E-E and E-C to set the
synthesizer switches. Note that the areas N, A, F, and G correspond to switches S1 and
S2. Also note that LO FREQ ADJ switch S3 and the fine-frequency adjust capacitor are
accessible from the Receiver panel front. Table E-F lists the synthesizer frequencies
according to their frequency bands.
Within the synthesizer oscillator frequencies listed in Table E-E, switch S2 (areas N and
A) and area G of switch S1, set the synthesizer frequency in 20-MHz increments. Table
E-C lists 2-MHz increments set by area F of S1. The example on Page 2 describes how to
use these tables to set synthesizer frequency.
NOTE
Before adjusting synthesizer frequency, ensure that the system has had sufficient time to
reach its normal operating temperature.
