Checking Roll Gap
The correct roll gap is required for proper conditioning; the setting is different for steel and polyurethane rolls.
WARNING
To avoid bodily injury or death from the unexpected startup of the machine, always stop the engine and remove the
key from the ignition before leaving the operator
’
s seat for any reason.
1.
Lower the rotary disc pull-type to the ground.
2.
Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.

Steel Rolls:
The length of thread (A) extending above the
jam nut on the adjustment rods can be used as an
approximation of roll gap, but does
NOT
provide consistent
roll gap measurements. To ensure roll gap is at the factory
setting, refer to
4.
Polyurethane Rolls:
Insert a feeler gauge between rolls
from either front or rear of header. Factory setting is 3 mm
(1/8 in.). If adjustments are required, refer to
8.11.1

To ensure the roll gap is at the factory setting, follow the procedure below:
1.
Lower the rotary disc pull-type fully.
2.
Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
