Spread Spectrum Installation Guide
Antenna
Each antenna connector accepts a reverse polarity SMA male connector. A
12-1547-
0 (24” adaptor) or a 12
-0477-
0 (72” adaptor) cable is used to connect all
antennas except the 13-2018-0 whip antenna.
The Repeater installation kit contains a 12-0428-0 omni
directional antenna and a 12-1546-0 long range directional
antenna. (2) 12-0477-
0 72” adaptor cables are also
included in the kit.
The Repeater may be damaged or
destroyed if it is powered up without both antennas
connected.
If the Repeater transmits without both antennas
attached the power that would be dissipated in the antenna
is dissipated in the radio module. This will cause the
Repeater to have shorter and shorter range and may
destroy the Repeater. Removing the power cable from the
Repeater will prevent it from transmitting.
Always remove
the power cable before removing the antennas.
The 12-0428-0 omni directional antenna must be mounted
at least 2 feet away horizontally from any metal structures.
The vertical separation of the 12-0428-0 omni directional
antenna and any directional antennas used should be
maximized for optimum performance. Directional antennas
can be mounted directly to metal structures. Directional antennas must be
installed with the radome (plastic element) on top. If two or more Repeaters are
being daisy chained to extend the range of a repeater the omni directional
antenna will need to be replaced with a directional antenna.
Hop Pattern Configuration
The hop patterns for the left and right radio modules are set with Configuration
Switches 1 -3. Every device that is directly communicating must be on the same
hop pattern. There are 8 hop patterns to choose from. The configuration
switches for the left and right radio module must both have switch 4 in the
right
most “OFF” position as shown bellow. The left and right radio modules must
be set to different hop patterns. Each radio module will only receive and
transmits data on the hop pattern it is set for.
