Antenna
The pivot mounted FieldNET RTU is shipped with a long
range directional antenna. An adaptor cable is used to
connect the antenna to the FieldNET RTU.
The RTU may
be damaged or destroyed if it is powered up without an
antenna.
If the RTU transmits without an antenna
attached the power that would be dissipated in the
antenna is dissipated in the radio module. This will cause
the RTU to have shorter and shorter range and may
destroy the RTU. Removing the power cable from the RTU will prevent it from
transmitting.
Always remove the power cable before removing the antenna.
The
internal battery does not need to be removed as long as the power cable has
been disconnected. Mount the directional antenna with the radome (plastic
element) on top as shown.
