DANGER
• Never remove and disassemble the hybrid devices (motor-generator, capacitor, inverter, electric
swing motor). The high voltage may be accumulated in the devices and wirings. If you touch them
by mistake, it may cause an electric shock and may lead to serious personal injury or death.
This machine is equipped with the hybrid system consisting of an electric motor and the diesel engine to reduce
fuel consumption.
If they need to be removed, ask your Komatsu distributor.
CONFIGURATION OF HYBRID SYSTEM
The hybrid system of this machine has high-voltage components such as high-voltage electric wirings which
connect between the devices and the hybrid devices of approximately 550 V (motor-generator, capacitor, inver-
ter, electric swing motor). It also has component such as cooling system which becomes high temperature when
the machine is operated.

LOW FUEL CONSUMPTION BY HYBRID SYSTEM
• The upper structure is swung with the electric swing motor and the kinetic energy generated when the
swing brake operates is converted into the electric energy and stored in the capacitor.
The stored electric energy is supplied to the electric swing motor when the upper structure is swung next
time.
• When the control lever is in NEUTRAL, the engine speed is decreased to the minimum to reduce the fuel
consumption.
The engine speed is controlled according to the lever operation quantity, control pattern and load so that
the fuel consumption efficiency will be kept the best.
