1.3.3 MUX
Kit
The MUX kit is a pre-installed item for the drive trays on the dual-
controller model: S12E-R1132-4. It enables partner RAID controllers
to access individual SATA-II hard drives in a dual-controller
configuration. If the SAS hard drives are preferred, there is no need
for a MUX kit on each drive tray.

MUX kits are equipped with active-active port selectors to facilitate
SATA drive installation and access from dual-active RAID controllers.

When installed into the enclosure, the SAS connectors on the other
end of the MUX kits will mate with the corresponding connectors on
the backplane board.
There is no need to use MUX kit in a single-controller S12F
subsystem. S12E-G1133-2 can accommodate both SAS and SATA-II
hard drives without MUX kits.
