Analog I/O Cartridge
Analog I/O Cartridge Overview
This section provides an overview of the analog I/O cartridges and describes the compatible cartridge slots.
Analog I/O cartridges are used to expand the analog inputs or analog outputs. They are available in the analog input type and the
analog output type. The analog input type is called the analog input cartridge, and the analog output type is called the analog
output cartridge. The analog data and analog status of the analog I/O cartridge is stored in special data registers. For details, see
"(5) Data" on page 10-13.
To use an analog I/O cartridge, it must be configured in the Module Configuration Editor. For detailed configuration methods, see
"Module Configuration Editor" on page 12-1. For details on the analog parameter settings, see "Analog Parameter Settings" on
page 10-11.
Cartridge Slots
All-in-One CPU module/CAN J1939 All-in-One CPU module
The All-in-One CPU module/CAN J1939 All-in-One CPU module are equipped with a maximum of two cartridge slots that are used
to install the analog I/O cartridges. The FC6A Series MICROSmart can be expanded with a maximum of four analog inputs or
analog outputs by installing a maximum of two analog I/O cartridges.
Furthermore, the FC6A Series MICROSmart can be expanded with a maximum of two analog inputs or analog outputs by
connecting the HMI module to the left side of the All-in-One CPU module/CAN J1939 All-in-One CPU module and installing an
analog I/O cartridge.
For example, when the HMI module is connected to the 40-I/O type, the FC6A Series MICROSmart can be expanded with a
maximum of six analog inputs or analog outputs by installing a maximum of three analog I/O cartridges.
Select the analog I/O cartridges for the connected devices and configure the signal type.

Always install or remove the analog I/O cartridges in the FC6A Series MICROSmart when the power is turned off. If an
analog I/O cartridge is installed or removed in the FC6A Series MICROSmart when the power is on, the product may be
damaged. There is also a risk that the analog I/O cartridge may not operate correctly.
The analog I/O cartridge may be damaged when dropped, so take great care not to drop it when removing it.
Correctly install the analog I/O cartridges in the analog I/O cartridge slots.
For details on how to install and remove the analog I/O cartridge, see "Assembling the CPU Module and a Cartridge"
on page 3-6 and "Assembling the HMI Module and a Cartridge" on page 3-7.
