Storage Setup
Verify File System
The FileSystem Verify feature checks the integrity of the file structure on the hard drive. It
runs automatically on every power cycle. If an error is detected, the HRDV will perform one
of three actions, depending on your selection:
• Reformat the drive(s)
• Reformat the drive(s) and run a data recovery
• Reformat the drive(s) and schedule a data recovery

The following table describes the fields on the FileSystem Verify screen.
Field Description
Reformat only If an error is detected, the HRDV automatically reformats the drive and restarts
recording to the beginning. All the data on the drive is lost.
Reformat and run data
recovery If an error is detected, the HRDV automatically reformats the drive and then
immediately attempts a data recovery (restores the file system to its original state).
Note Running a data recovery causes some data on the drive to be overwritten.

data recovery If an error is detected, the HRDV automatically reformats the drive and restarts
recording to the beginning. The system attempts a data recovery (restores the file
system to its original state) at the time you set in the

field.

you schedule your data recovery for a period of little activity (for example, at night).
