Software Update
The HRDV16/8 can be updated by inserting the proper CD into the CD-ROM drive on your
HRDV and also comes with two software applications that allow you to update software
using a PC with your HRDV16/8:
•
Software Update Utility (SUU) for updating firmware. The SUU requires little setup, but
it can only perform this one function.
•
Remote Access Software (RAS) for updating software. RAS is a more versatile
application. To use it you must first set up a communication device on your Windows
operating system. For detailed instructions on downloading software using RAS, refer
to the
.
The SUU is a Windows-based application that writes the data to the HRDV16/8 memory via
an RS232 connection and updates the flash in a one-load operation. To use the SUU you
must connect your HRDV16/8 to a local PC using a null modem cable.
Note
The HRDV16/8 does not record digital video while you are downloading
software.
Caution
Powering down during the flash update requires a service card to
restore the unit to operational state. It may also require a service call.
Downloading Software Using the CD-ROM Drive
1.
Download the HRDV16/8 Firmware to your PC. Find the most current firmware at the
Honeywell web site at:
http://www.honeywellvideo.com/support/downloads/downloads_dvr.html
2.
Unzip the downloaded HRDV16/8 firmware file (for example,
HRDV16_firmware_120g.zip
). This extracts a file (
16il_20g.bin
) for burning before
downloading to the HRDV.
3.
Insert a blank CD into your PC’s CD-ROM drive. Burn the firmware file (for example,
16il_20g.bin) using a CD writing program such as Roxio Easy CD Creator
®
5 (see the
documentation included with the CD writing program for more information). The
contents of the CD should appear similar to
