Specific safety or performance claims made for the device:
Manufacturer’s statement:
For all risk applications or any use with patients, where falling would lead to very dangerous situations (for example after
hip replacement operations, patients with neurologic problems, patients connected to invasive probes, maximum load
tests, etc.) a fall prevention system like a safety arch with chest harness and stop-function or an unweighting system (for
example the h/p/cosmos airwalk) is obligatory for such applications. Automatic stop of the running belt in the moment a
fall occurs. The chest belt secures the subject and prevents falling over to the front. The chest belt straps do not pinch or
restrict the athlete. The chest belt is connected via harness with the emergency stop at the crossbar of the safety arch. If
there is more than approx. 8 kg / 17.6 lbs traction pulling on the harness, the switch will stop the running belt
immediately. The length of the harness is individually adjustable.
Unweighting systems as an accessory (for example the h/p/cosmos airwalk) can be used for body weight support of the
patient, in case the patient should not bear his full body weight on his legs, for example after hip operation.
A safety stop cord type (e.g. safety lanyard with magnetic switch) can be attached to the subject. The safety stop cord
type shall limit the range of motion of the subject to the 70% of the front part of the running deck length.
The actuator cord shall have a suitable length so that the actuator releases/triggers at a position not more than 70 % of
the length of the running surface.
In case the subject cannot catch up with the speed and is falling behind to the rear 30% of the running deck length, or in
case the subject is falling, the safety stop cord type will trigger a stop function of the treadmill and will stop the running
belt.
Caution! The safety stop cord type can not prevent from falling and is therefore not as safe as the safety arch with chest
belt and fall prevention or the unweighting system!

Emergency buttons:
The big and well visible emergency-stop-button is standard at all models, placed at the handrail or UserTerminal for
easy access. An additional emergency-stop-button can be retro-fitted at all h/p/cosmos running machines, for example
to be duplicated on the opposite site handrail.
Extract from the norm EN 957-6:
The push-button type or pull cord safety stop actuator shall be in a reachable position in front of the user and in an area
of ± 180 mm parallel to the centreline of the running surface.
If the push-button type safety stop actuator is outside this area it shall be duplicated on the opposite side except when a
pull-cord actuator is provided.
h/p/cosmos can supply a second and additional push button emergency stop button and/or a pull-cord actuator (safety
lanyard with magnetic stop) and/or a safety arch with chest belt, harness and fall stop function.
At all models of the category medical the main push button emergency-stop is simultaneously an emergency-off, that
means by pushing this button the power supply of the device gets cut off.
