Mechanical characteristics
Running surface of the model “h/p/cosmos quasar med” for example is 170 x 65 cm / 66.0 x 25.6 inches,
frame size 230 x 105 x 140 cm (90.6 x 41.3 x 55.1 inches).
Running surface of the model “h/p/cosmos pulsar” for example is 190 x 65 cm / 74.8 x 25.6 inches, frame size 250 x 105
x 140 cm (98.4 x 41.3 x 55.1 inches), machine’s weight approx. 400 kg (884 lbs), max. subject weight on running deck:
200 kg (440lbs). The treadmill has both side handrails and is in compliance with the norm EN 957-1 / EN 957-6. The
overall impression is very sturdy, reliable and safe.

Performance claims & performance data
The treadmill is simulating various adjustable speeds and various adjustable gradients to the subject. Performance data
see operation manual technical specifications.
The recommended and right endurance and dose of the load parameter (speed and elevation) and specific application
in medical diagnostics and therapy is decided and supervised by the doctor.
The treadmill is not calculating any medical parameter, is not performing any medical diagnosis and is not giving any
recommendations for treatment.
The medical treadmill can support the doctor and patient in their decision to perform stress tests and in physical
movement of walking and running.
Load simulation such as speed and elevation are non critical, as long as the device is used by adults and healthy
subjects in similar way to load and stress in daily life (walking and running) and on a deck size of approx. L: 150cm x W:
50cm until L: 190cm x W: 65cm which is an “unwritten standard” for medical and professional treadmills. The load and
condition to the subject will be very much similar independent from such size and configuration details, since the used
load and condition to the patient will be independent from the detailed possible treadmill specs, because in diagnostics
and therapy load protocols such as speed and elevation and duration are mainly standardized. See protocols such as
Bruce, Naughton, Cooper, Ellestad A, Gardner, etc.

Describe how the device achieves its intended purpose
The patient is asked to follow the speed of the belt and keep his position on the deck. By walking and/or running the
physical condition of the patient can be analysed through treadmill stress test protocol and additional ECG or VO2max.
(metabolic cart) diagnostic device. In physiotherapy and neurologic application the patient can be additionally secured
and un-weighted with body weight support system and the gait can be analysed and corrected under safe and re-
producible conditions.
