The table below shows the availability of time and date as well as device numbering on the serial
output of Gedge Systems weight indicators. Time and Date as well as a device number is not available
for the GS1650P, GS1650T or GS1650S.

The principal steps required to make a weight indicator ready for connection to the GS8920 Ticket
Printer are :-
1.
Install the Option 02 or 05 board and set the baud rate.
2.
If Option 05 is used, modify the interconnecting cable.
3.
Enter digital setup and establish the required parameter settings.
4.
If the indicator is fitted with a time and date option, select the time and date format.
The GS8920 will accept any time and date format output by the indicator.
2 .6 .2 Option 02 and 05 Baud Rate.
The Option 02 or 05 serial board fitted to the weight indicator contains a set of switches which are
used to set the serial data transmission rate. A rate of 4800 baud is recommended, however, rates in the
range 600 to 19200 may be used. Refer to the table below and set the rate on the Option 02 or 05
board.

2 .6 .3 Data Parity
The GS8920 can accept any parity setting. There is no parity selection on the GS1650 or GS2750
weight indicators. The parity is always even. The parity setting can be selected on the GS1650 BR3,
GS1650A and GS1650B but for consistency, an even parity setting should be selected on the
indicators.
2 .6 .4 Data Format
The GS8920 Ticket Printer expects to receive serial weight data from the digital weight indicator in a
particular format. Serial errors will result if data is transmitted to the GS8920 Ticket Printer in any
other format. The serial data format is established on the digital weight indicator during digital setup.
The settings required are as follows.
2 .6 .4 .1 GS1650 Parameter Settings.
Select the C3 continuous serial output format.
