The GS8920’s keys are then used to step through the digital setup table and to make selections. When
finished, the
WEIGH IN
key is pressed to save the settings and resume normal operation. The
GS8920’s keys which are used for digital setup and for setting the time and date follow. They are
identified with a label which denotes their setup function, an example being “DS” for digital setup.
Note :-
The GS8920 includes several levels of protection for the digital setup parameters. At the first level,
with no other interlocks set, a precise keystroke sequence is required to access the parameters.
In applications where this does not provide adequate protection there are two further levels of security.
They are :-
1
. Jumper pins 6 and 8 of the 9 pin input connector and seal the connector in place with wire and lead
seals. This is the recommended sealing technique for weights and measures applications.
2
. Install a remote key switch between pins 5 and 7 of the 9 pin input connector and seal this connector
in place with wire and lead seals. This approach has the disadvantage that it also locks out access to
the security register.
