Expansion Port Modules (Stackable devices only)
All Foundry Stackable devices provide support for optional expansion port modules. These expansion modules
provide either an adjacent link or trunk group connection to another Foundry device or to other vendors’ network
equipment such as servers, switches, or routers. Additionally, a 2-port expansion module may be used to
establish redundant connections between Foundry Layer 2 Switches and Layer 3 Switches.
The following expansion modules are supported on all Stackable devices:

2-port 100BaseTX (UTP) module
•
2-port 100BaseFX Multi-mode Fiber (MMF) module
•
1-Port 1000BaseSX Multi-mode Fiber (MMF) module
•
2-Port 1000BaseSX Multi-mode Fiber (MMF) module
•
1-Port 1000BaseLX Single-Mode/Multi-mode Fiber (SMF/MMF) module
•
2-Port 1000BaseLX Single-Mode/Multi-mode Fiber (SMF/MMF) module
•
1-Port 1000BaseLH Single-Mode/Multi-mode Fiber (SMF) module
•
2-Port 1000BaseLH Single-Mode/Multi-mode Fiber (SMF) module
NOTE:
1000BaseLH expansion modules are not supported on FastIron Workgroup switches.
AC Power Supply
All Foundry Stackable Layer 2 Switches and Layer 3 Switches are equipped with an auto-ranging 90-250 VAC
power supply rated at 2.5A and 47-63 Hz.
Foundry Chassis Layer 2 Switches and Layer 3 Switches are equipped with an auto-ranging 90-250 VAC power
supply rated at 7.5A and 47-63 Hz.
Standard and Redundant Power Options
Redundant power is an option for all Foundry devices. Each power supply can be connected to a separate AC
power source for additional power redundancy. When power supplies are added to a system, the power supplies
load balance and the draw on the individual power supplies is reduced.
Stackables
Stackable devices come standard with one power supply. You also can order a second power supply for
redundancy.
Chassis
Four-slot Chassis devices come standard with one power supply, which is enough to provide adequate power for
any combination of modules. You can order an additional power supply for redundancy.
Eight-slot Chassis devices can contain from one to four power supplies and comes standard with one power
supply.

One supply is adequate for devices with one, two, or three modules (including the management module).
•
If the chassis contains four or more modules, you need at least two power supplies. Two power supplies is
sufficient if the chassis contains fewer than four 24-port 10/100 FX modules.
•
If the chassis contains four or more 24-port 10/100 FX modules, you need at least three power supplies.
Fifteen-slot Chassis devices come standard with two power supplies and can contain up to four. Three power
supplies adds load sharing while adding a fourth power supply provides N+1 redundancy.
