3.4 CALIBRATION
3.4.1 GENERAL
To ensure the AS32M analyzer’s measurement accuracy, users should regularly carry out operations
for checking, calibrating, and adjusting according to their quality assurance plan.
Zero
check
This operation consists of verifying the response of the analyzer with zero air.
The purpose of this system check is to determine the amount of analyzer drift over time and to
correct it.
The zero air filter or « 0 Air » input can be used to perform this operation.
Periodicity:
generally 24 hours in an automatic cycle.
One-point scale check
This operation consists of verifying the response of the analyzer for a known-concentration gas.
The purpose of this check is to determine the amount of analyzer drift over time without span
coefficient correction.
The internal permeation bench or span input can be used for this operation.
Periodicity:
1 month, or more frequently if the equipment requires it.
Two-point
calibration
This procedure checks and corrects the analyzer response at the zero and one-point scale at
approximately 80 % of full scale of the measurement range used.
Periodicity:
1 month, or more frequently if the equipment requires it.
Multi-point
calibration
This is a complete check of analyzer characteristics, in particular linearity.
Periodicity:
3 months, or following out-of-tolerance calibration results, or after an intervention on
the analyzer.
Note about gas generation devices:
For devices delivering a gas under pressure, it is necessary to provide an exhaust system in order to deliver
the gas at atmospheric pressure on the analyzer inlet. This device must be made of neutral materials for the
gas used. If used in an automatic cycle with a cylinder, it is necessary to provide for a stop solenoid valve,
which is remote-controlled by the analyzer (refer to
Figure 3-5
).
