3.3.4.6.1 CONFIGURATION

Communications

Serial link
This screen is used to configure the serial link (COM1), with COM2 being reserved for communication
with the module board. The address, the baud rate, the format, and the communication protocol are
configurable:

The analyzer address is programmable with 4 characters. The name of the analyzer, AS32, is four
characters and used by default.

The speed of communication of the serial link is stated as the baud rate (bits per seconds): 1200,
2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200.

The data transmission format is selected from the following: 8,n,1; 8,o,1; 8,e,1; 8,n,2; 8,o,2; or
8,e,2. This is a common shorthand notation for a serial port parameter setting in asynchronous
mode. The first character is the number of data bits (can be 7 or 8). The second character is the
parity control (can be n (for none), e (for even), or o (for odd)). The third character is the number of
stop bits (can be 1 or 2).
Examples: 8,n,1: 8 data bits, no parity bit, 1 stop bit
8,o,1: 8 data bits, 1 odd parity bit, 1 stop bit
8,e,2: 8 data bits, 1even parity bit, 2 stop bits

Communication protocol: Mode4, JBUS, or PRN (printer), Bayern.

Mode4 is a communication protocol proper to Environnement SA designed to send and
receive data. It works according to master/slave mode.

JBUS protocol is an industrial protocol designed to dialog with automatons. It works according
to master/slave mode.

PRN protocol is a text data frame containing information about the measures (compound
name, value, unit) of the analyzer and automatically transmitted, without request, at
programmable intervals.

Interface: RS-422 or RS-232.
These are standards of communication interfaces. RS-422 enables multipoint communication
management for industrial controllers and RS-232 enables point-to-point communication
management: analyzer
 PC.
