Purpose

Virtual

 

Router

 

Redundancy

 

Protocol

 

(VRRP).

 

This

 

protocol

 

eliminates

 

the

 

single

 

point

 

of

 

failure

 

inherent

 

in

 

the

 

static

 

default

 

routed

 

environment

 

by

 

transferring

 

the

 

responsibility

 

from

 

one

 

router

 

to

 

another

 

if

 

the

 

original

 

router

 

goes

 

down.
