when a redundant FRU fails, but the product is still
performing as designed.

Enable Call-Home
Event Notification
The call-home feature, which you configure for each product through
the Product Manager, enables the Connectrix service processor to
automatically dial out to a support center to report system problems.
The support center server accepts calls from the Connectrix service
processor, logs reported events, and can notify one or more support
center representatives.
The events that initiate call-home notification are specific to each
individual managed product. These events include:
•
Change in system operational status
•
Problem detection, such as a failed FRU
•
Problem correction
•
State change that requires user attention or a report to the product
administrator or service representative
•
Ethernet events, which can trigger a call home if the EC-1100's
hub fails. EMC recommends enabling this feature. Refer to
Configure Ethernet Events on page 2-37.
To enable call-home notification for system problems, use the
following steps:
1. In the Connectrix Manager’s navigation control panel, move your
cursor over the Maintenance icon.
2. Make sure the box next to Enable Call Home Event Notification
is checked. If it is not, click the box to place a checkmark in it.
CAUTION
!
EMC recommends leaving call-home notification enabled.
