Introduction
Creating/opening a project
The project is the most basic object for management of this unit.
What is a project?
With the DV-7PR, the project is the most basic object for management of your audio and video files.
Projects can be used by both the Presenter and Editor applications. Material can be imported to a
project, and then that imported material can be played back in real-time using Presenter or edited
using Editor. Also, the playback settings and editing work for a project is stored together with that
project for easy management.
The relationship of projects, materials, and video clips
In each project there are materials for use in the project, palettes for lining up the materials, and video
clips on the palettes for the real-time playback with the DV-7PR.

Material can be imported from an external video device. When using data created on a computer,
save it to a DV tape or to convert it to a DV stream file and burn it to a CD-R. You can also import
material from another project. Material can be used by both the Presenter and Editor applications.
One project contains 20 palettes. On each palette, you can line up to 32 of the materials contained in
the project.
Materials lined up on a palette are referred to as video clips (sometimes shortened to “clips”). You
can select a video clip play it back in real-time. You can also set the playback period (in and out
points), loop playback, and dissolve time for each video clip separately.
Pieces made using Editor cannot be used with Presenter. “Save as material” your creation first to enable it
to be used on Presenter. For more information regarding the operation, refer to your DV-7 Instruction
manual.
