Processing failed sub-assemblies
Faulty subassemblies replaced during a maintenance operation are dealt with differently
depending on whether they are repairable or not:
•
Repair service
: this service concerns
repairable subassemblies
. Repairable
subassemblies are sent to the manufacturer's repair centre or, in the case of terminals,
to an approved repair station (ARS).
•
Swap service
: this service concerns
non-repairable subassemblies
, which are
replaced with a new part when they fail while under warranty, provided that they are sent
to the manufacturer's repair centre.
•
Consumables
: these are
non-repairable subassemblies
not under warranty, unlike
new products.
To find out which service applies to which subassembly, the operator must refer to the
system illustrated spare parts catalogue (see Section 1.3, Document [4]). These
catalogues are used to order replacement parts. There is a catalogue for each
maintenance level.
