Body Position:
•
The patient should be seated or lying down.
•
If the patient is seated, they should have legs uncrossed, feet flat on the floor and back and arms
supported.
•
The patient should be comfortable, relaxed as much as possible and silent during the NIBP
measurement.
Heart Level Proximity of the Cuff:
The middle of the cuff should be at the level of the right atrium of the heart (heart level).
Elapsed Time Prior to Test:
It is recommended that you wait 5 minutes before taking the first reading to allow the
patient’s blood
pressure to stabilize.

2. Select the Mode, Inflate Pressure, and Cuff position (Sitting or Supine).
