WARNING
The HCP (health care professional) performing the spirometry test should have had prior training in
spirometric measurements.
The ATS* recommends performing the Spirometer Calibration Check every day, or more frequently.
More frequent calibration may be needed if there are changes in the setting or ambient conditions
(e.g., changes in ambient temperature, pressure and/or humidity).
The Spirometer Calibration Check is to be performed by the HCP only. The Spirometer Calibration
Check is not to be performed by a patient.
Spirometer Calibration Checks may be affected by air blockage and movement of the syringe or
pressure tubing.
The calibration syringe must be calibrated annually.
To reduce risk of cross contamination always use a new flowsensor to perform the Spirometer
Calibration Check.
Use the Spirometer only if it passes the Spirometer Calibration Check. Otherwise, measurements
could be inaccurate and could result in a misdiagnosis.
*The ATS recommends performing the Spirometer Calibration Check every day before testing.
