1. Tap the
Temperature
test icon.
The Temperature Test screen appears.
2.
Visually inspect the patient’s ear canal to verify that it is safe to conduct the test. Read and understand
the warnings and cautions listed in 9.1 WARNINGS and CAUTIONS.
3. Remove the temperature probe from the base.
4. Inspect the temperature probe tip and lens to ensure proper operation:
•
If the probe tip and lens are clean, proceed to step 5.
•
If any debris is present, clean the temperature probe tip and lens:
•
Clean with an Isopropyl alcohol wi
pe, such as Webcol™ Alcohol Preps or Curity™ Alcohol Preps.
•
Remove all foreign matter from the thermometer probe tip.
•
Dry the probe tip lens using a lint-free swab, cotton ball, or lens wipe.
•
Ensure that the probe lens is free of fingerprints and smudges.
•
Allow the thermometer to air dry for 30 minutes prior to use.
5. Press the Scan button to verify function and mode selection on the
probe’s screen.
6. Firmly insert the probe tip into a probe cover. Upon installation of the probe cover, the thermometer
performs a system reset and its screen displays dashes, equivalence mode, and the thermometer
icon.
7. Inspect the probe cover to ensure it is fully seated with no space between the cover and tip base, and
that the plastic film has no holes, tears, or wrinkles.
8. Gently place the probe in the
patient’s ear canal and seal the opening with the probe tip.
9. Ensure that the probe shaft is aligned with the ear canal for consistent results.
