Removing the Primary Hard Drive (HDD1)
CAUTION:
Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your

CAUTION:
Do not touch the metal housing of the hard drive if you remove the hard drive from the
computer while the drive is hot.
NOTICE:
To prevent data loss, turn off your computer before removing the hard drive. Do not remove the
hard drive while the computer is on or in Sleep state.
NOTICE:
Hard drives are extremely fragile. Exercise care when handling the hard drive.
1. Follow the procedures in
Before Working on Your Computer
.
2. Remove the base assembly cover (see
Removing the Base Assembly Cover
).
3. Loosen the two captive screws on the HDD1 carrier, and remove the carrier.
4. Push in, then pull up on the safety loop to remove the cover.

5. Use the pull tab to disconnect the HDD1 from the connector on the system board, and remove the HDD1 from the
computer.
