Kill Limit Switch Function
See General Warnings on page 1-2.
The black and white/black wires connect to the kill limit switch function of the throttle position sensor. This is the
normally closed (NC) portion of the circuit used to ground the ignition and shut the engine off when the pedal is released.
NOTE:
Keep the battery connected while performing this test procedure.
1.
Place the neutral lockout switch in the MAINTENANCE position, put the Forward/Reverse handle in the
NEUTRAL position, and chock the wheels.
2.
Disconnect gray 18-pin connector from ECU.
3.
Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
4.
With battery connected and using a multimeter set to the diode test function (ç), attach the red (+) lead to the
negative (–) battery terminal and the black (-) lead to the white/black wire at the limit switch located on the
Forward/Reverse shifter assembly.
See following NOTE.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to partially pull the white/black wire from the switch terminal to attach the black lead.
5.
Turn the key switch to the ON position. With accelerator pedal at rest in the fully raised position, the meter
should indicate approximately 1.0 volt.
6.
Press the accelerator to engage the starter and engine. With accelerator pedal pressed, the meter should indicate
an over limit (no continuity) condition. If either reading is incorrect, replace the accelerator pedal assembly.
